I am Mandeep Singh, the Principal Solicitor at Westgate Lawyers & Consultants, admitted to practise in the Supreme Court of Victoria and the High Court of Australia.

Since commencing my professional career in 2009, I have developed more than 17 years of experience in Australian Migration Law, assisting individuals, families, and businesses in navigating complex immigration matters. Following my admission as a solicitor, I expanded my practice to provide legal services across Family Law, Criminal Law, Civil Litigation, and Commercial Matters. This broader legal experience enables me to recognise how different areas of law often intersect, allowing me to provide practical, strategic, and tailored legal solutions that address each client's unique circumstances.

Throughout my career, I have advised and represented clients in a broad range of matters, including Migration Law, Family Law, Criminal Law, Civil Litigation, and Commercial Matters. I have extensive experience handling complex migration matters, including visa refusals, employer sponsorships, skilled migration, partner visas, student visas, visitor visas, citizenship matters, ministerial intervention requests, and character-related issues. I have also represented clients before review tribunals in migration matters, helping them navigate challenging circumstances with strategic and practical advice.

Being a part of Australia's migrant community myself, I understand the aspirations, challenges, and uncertainties faced by migrants and their families. Having worked with clients from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds for many years, I have developed significant experience in family law matters, including parenting disputes, family violence matters, intervention orders, property settlements, and relationship breakdowns. I understand that family disputes are often emotionally challenging, and I strive to provide practical solutions while protecting the interests of my clients and their loved ones.

I also regularly advise and represent clients in criminal law matters, ranging from traffic offences to more serious allegations. Importantly, I understand that criminal charges can have consequences beyond the courtroom, particularly for visa holders and permanent residents. My combined experience in criminal and migration law enables me to provide strategic advice that takes into account not only the criminal proceedings themselves but also any potential impact on a person's immigration status and future in Australia.

In addition, I have experience assisting clients in matters involving the Visa Cancellation and Character Unit (VACCU), including character concerns, notices of intention to consider cancellation, and visa cancellation matters. I understand the significant personal and professional consequences these matters can have and work closely with clients to present strong and well-prepared cases.

My experience across different areas of law enables me to recognise issues that overlap between legal disciplines and to develop practical, holistic solutions.
